PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The Mt Cattlin lithium project, in Western Australia, has reached 90% of its nameplate capacity, after production started in November 2016.
ASX-listed Galaxy Resources said on Friday that, during February, the operation will continue to increase its throughput and is expected to reach nameplate design of 210 t/h within the next week.
Galaxy has scheduled its second lithium concentrate shipment for late February, containing some 15 000 t of ore, with product grade averaging 5.5% lithium oxide and a low 2% mica concentration.
Galaxy is hoping to produce 160 000 t of lithium concentrate from Mt Cattlin during 2017.
