PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The Mt Cattlin spodumene project, in Western Australia, has started 24-hour production, owner Galaxy Resources reported on Wednesday.
Ore commissioning at the project started in mid-November, with the project also producing its first lithium concentrate during this time.
Trucking for the Mt Cattlin product started on December 5, with the trucks dispatched to the Esperance port.
Galaxy said that over the coming weeks, short-term production tests will continue with scheduled maintenance shut downs to ensure reliability is sustained through the continued ramp-up to nameplate capacity. Part of the short-term production tests are the planned phased unit process tests to improve final concentrate grade to 6% lithium oxide grades, along with further improvements to product yield.
