JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed Stellar Diamonds has earned another $228 000 in revenue, bringing sales from a 100 000 t bulk sample exercise to nearly $1.23-million.
The recent Baoulé diamond auction netted $72.65/ct from the sale of diamonds from its 75%-owned Baoulé kimberlite pipe, in Guinea.
The diamond development company explained that, owing to a current weak rough diamond market and the lower quality of diamonds sourced from the smaller Western lobe, the average price was lower than that of previous sales.
However, the better quality gem diamonds achieved strong prices, with two 5 ct diamonds achieving in excess of $3 500/ct.
