PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed junior Zenith Minerals has secured the Pollappa lithium project, in north Queensland, just days after taking ownership of the Develin Creek copper/zinc/gold/silver project, also in Queensland.
Zenith reported on Thursday that the two mineral applications, covering 333 km2 of lithium prospective rocks, were applied for in July, following the recognition that the region contained lithium enriched granites and lithium mineralised rocks.
Compilation of historic exploration activity over the licence area is ongoing, but to date, the majority of previous exploration reviewed was surface sampling focused on base metals and gold exploration, with no evidence of any lithium analysis or any significant bedrock drilling programmes.
Zenith noted that on the grant of tenure, initial surface mapping and surface sampling would precede planned drill testing.
