JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Canadian gold exploration company WestKam Gold is in talks with Kinross Gold to process material from WestKam’s Bonaparte project’s bulk sample programme.
Through the proposed agreement, the British Columbia-based project will use a milling facility for processing material and metallurgical testwork at Kinross’s Kettle River operation, in Washington state. The company has already submitted several kilograms of ore from its bulk sample programme.
"This represents a key step in furthering the project. Kinross has visited the site for evaluation and we are working with them to submit additional samples. Also, our site commissioning is nearing completion, and we expect to initiate advancement of the decline in the coming days,” said WestKam CEO Matt Wayrynen.
Recent progress at Bonaparte includes a number of safety initiatives, working in conjunction with the Mines Inspector and Ministry of Energy and Mines, as well as mapping and other preparatory work.
