PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Grid power has been restored to nickel miner Western Areas’ Forrestania operations, in Western Australia.
The Forrestania operations temporarily lost power following a regional bush fire about 35 km to the north of the mine site.
Western Areas said on Thursday said that power was lost for about 30 hours, which would likely result in a short-term impact on production. However, the company did not expect there to be any adverse impact on meeting its full-year production targets.
The fire remained of no physical threat to either the Forrestania operations, or personnel.
