PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The Karouni gold project, in Guyana, has reached commercial production, with owner Troy Resources reporting on Wednesday that all key components of the processing plants had been successfully commissioned.
“Achieving commercial production is a significant milestone for the company,” said Troy MD Martin Purvis.
He added that the Karouni plant was performing in line with expectations, and that mill throughput of about 80 000 t/m was expected to be reached in March.
Karouni produced its first gold in November last year, with the project expected to produce some 633 000 oz over a seven year mine life.
