South Africa’s Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has appointed Zutari as the transaction adviser at the Island View precinct, the Port of Durban’s fuels and chemicals hub through which about 74% of South Africa's liquid bulk imports are managed.
Zutari will validate TNPA’s ‘Island View Precinct Strategy’ and implementation plan against current market trends and develop a revised comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing the precinct’s sustainability and operational efficiency.
The Port of Durban’s Island View precinct is a national key point, incorporating 12 terminal operators over an area of 1 545 000 m², and handling a variety of products, including petroleum, chemicals and agricultural goods.
The precinct has also been designated to facilitate the handling of liquefied petroleum gas and other cleaner energy sources.
In reviewing the precinct’s strategy, acting TNPA managing executive for the Eastern region Mpumi Dweba-Kwetana promised ongoing collaboration with stakeholders, including the Fuels Industry Association of South Africa, the National Energy Regulator of South Africa, the Chemical and Allied Industries’ Association and terminal operators.
