JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – TSX-listed Katanga Mining, a subsidiary of diversified miner Glencore, has reported that a third body, which was in the process of being identified, had been recovered from its KOV openpit mine, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
A geotechnical failure on the north wall of the mine caused a landslide on Tuesday. Two bodies were recovered earlier in the week.
The search for the remaining four individuals continued with all available resources. The mine said it would continue to work closely with the relevant authorities and was providing all the necessary support for the families and friends of the affected individuals.
