JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Signalling the next step towards completing the overall environmental permitting process for its Mofe Creek project, Liberia’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted dual-listed iron-ore miner Tawana Resources approval for its annual environmental audit report regarding its southern licence at the project.
The company on Thursday reported that it had also received a renewal permit for the project’s northern exploration licence.
Tawana’s exploration programme was deemed to be compliant in relation to the requirements of the EPA permit issuance, which ensured adherence to impact prevention or mitigation measures, as originally submitted by Tawana for EPA approval.
“Securing the permit renewal and approval of the annual audit report is necessary for the advancement of operations at Mofe Creek and is critical to our commitment to the project’s development,” Tawana CEO Wayne Richards said.
