PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Silver Lake Resources was hoping to develop a 45 000 oz/y underground operation at its Maxwells project, in the Mount Monger region, with the company saying that a recent A$1.4-million exploration drill programme had revealed promising results.
The company said on Friday that the most recent 12 diamond drill holes at Maxwells had all intersected visible gold.
Given the success of the exploration drilling, Silver Lake would drill a further five priority targets at Maxwells, starting this quarter. The drill programme was targeting underground and openpit extensions to mineralisation both down plunge and along strike.
The Maxwells openpit operation was previously mined to around 140 m below the surface, and produced 1 970 oz per vertical metre during this phase of operations.
