Described as an alternative to float switches, LI level sensors are designed to reliably detect leakages and point levels on a permanent basis. The capacitive measuring system has no moving parts, eliminating the risk of malfunction or maintenance requirements as a result of deposits on mechanical parts.
The sensor has German Federal Water Act, or WHG, approval, which ensures compliance with legal requirements in the environment of substances that are hazardous to water.
The sensors are factory-set for specific media (LI21xx for oils and LI51xx for aqueous media), allowing for easy set-up and plug-and-play operation. A ‘teach’ button and IO-link also allows the sensor to be adjusted to different types of media such as water, oil or cooling lubricants. Another advantage is that the sensor can detect the temperature of the medium, transmitted by means of the IO-link or assigned to one of the two switching outputs.
The sensors are used in applications with coolants, cleaning agents and lubricants as well as hydraulic oils.
LI level sensors are available from ifm.
