According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the construction industry has the greatest number of fatal and non-fatal traumatic brain injuries of all American workplaces. It further states that from 2003 to 2010, 25% of all construction fatalities were caused by traumatic brain injury.
The Swedish brain protection brand, MIPS, has partnered with Swedish industrial safety company, Guardio, to develop an industrial safety helmet.
The MIPS brain protection system is designed to reduce the rotational motion transmitted to the brain from angled impacts to the head. Rotational motion can affect the brain and increase the risk of minor and severe brain injuries. The company’s added protection system has been proven to reduce rotational motion in a helmet, by absorbing and redirecting energies and forces otherwise transmitted to the brain.
The Guardio Armet MIPS helmet is now available to the industry.
