JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – LSE-listed Randgold Resources is working to resolve an ongoing illegal underground sit-in at its Tongon mine, in Côte d'Ivoire, which started on January 26.
The group is currently negotiating with some workers who are demanding yearly ex gratia payments.
“Representatives of the central and local governments, as well as the union, which does not support the sit-in, have joined management in engaging with the workers to end their action,” Randgold said in a note to shareholders on Monday.
