IO-Link is used as a communication protocol for complex measuring tasks in factory automation and radar level sensors enable communication with IO-Link.
VEGA explains that its VEGAPULS 42 radar level sensor helps to simplify processes in factory automation. It is described as a fast, simple and cost-effective sensor ideal for industry use where comprehensive automation with fast level changes is required.
With its versatile hygienic adapters, VEGAPULS 42 is particularly suitable for processes with strict hygiene standards. In hygiene-intensive industries like pharmaceuticals and food, non-contact radar is seen as the ideal measurement technology because the level is detected continuously without touching the medium, and process and ambient conditions do not affect the sensor.
The sensor is equipped with state-of-the-art functions and enables bidirectional data transmission with extensive diagnostics and parameterisation. It is designed for a measuring level of up to a distance of 15 m and can be used in temperatures of up to 150 °C. The sensor configuration is suitable for cyclical production processes, dosing processes, and downstream processes such as conveyance and filling systems.
The new sensor is based on the radar chip developed in house by VEGA, and the company highlights its wide dynamic range and versatility.
