Industrial pumps solutions leasing company Integrated Pump Rental has introduced the Slurry Blaster, a cost-effective cleaning tool for slurry removal.
Integrated Pump Rental MD Lee Vine notes that feedback on the Slurry Blaster has been positive, considering that the company only recently launched the product. He attributes the initial success of the product to its cost effectiveness and the safety benefits of using a monitoring gun instead of hoses. The Slurry Blaster forms part of the company’s hydro mining equipment solutions and was launched in mid-2015 as a response to the lack of hydro mining solutions in the South African mining and engineering spheres.
“Integrated Pump Rental realised the need to provide a locally engineered and manufactured slurry removal solution for the South African market, as this had not been addressed,” says Vine.
He explains that the practical applications of the Slurry Blaster unit include use on plant floors and sumps as well as the draining and dewatering of tailings areas, process water dam plants and hard-to-reach areas in operations.
“The Slurry Blaster is available in three main configurations – it can be attached onto a pontoon that enables it to float, be mounted onto a trailer or set up manually. “However, the unit is also versatile enough to meet individual application needs based on a project or operation and can, thus, be configured accordingly,” he adds.
Vine further notes that Integrated Pump Rental also provides technical support for end-users in terms of the best applications and configurations for the Slurry Blaster on inspection of a client’s project site.
Each installation of the unit encompasses a standard 37 kW feed pump with float, a 22 kW slurry pump, a 200 m heavy-duty lay-flat hose and an electric control panel to control the system. The company offers the units for medium- and long-term rental and, thus, contractors do not have to be concerned with depreciation of the pumps, as the equipment is returned to Integrated Pump Rental when the pumping phase of the project is complete.
Alternatively, clients have the option to buy the Slurry Blaster on a full-term key project basis from the start of a project.
A member of the GiGi investment group of companies, the company is the Southern African distributor for Grindex Pumps and offers daily, weekly, monthly or yearly rental and leasing contracts.
The Slurry Blaster uses the Grindex Bravo range of electrical submersible slurry pumps supplied by Integrated Pump Rental.
Vine further tells Mining Weekly that the company is currently developing a wastewater dredging unit that will form part of its dredging range of products. The company also offers the Slurry Sucker unit, which is used for dredging and cleaning water capture areas where silt or slimes are an issue or where water retention and water holding capacity are being threatened.
