An oil dipstick thermocouple temperature probe intended for use in research and development (R&D) applications to measure engine fluid temperatures, is suitable for engine oil, water and transmission fluid temperature measurements.
The flexible probe slides down the dipstick tube into the pan or reservoir and can be custom made to any length, according to required specifications. The probe is flexible and the compression fitting is adjustable, allowing the probe tip to be set at various depths.
Specifications
- Thermocouple type: E, J, K or T
- Accuracy: +/-0.4% of reading or about +/- 1.1 °C (special limits of error)
- Measuring range: (E = -328 °F to 1 600 °F) (J = 32°F to 1 400 °F) (K = -328 °F to 2 300 °F) (T = -328 °F to 700 °F)
- Probe diameter: 3.2 mm
- Sensing junction: Enclosed, Ungrounded
- Response time: 600 mS
- Time constant: Defined as the time required to reach 63.2% of an instantaneous temperature change. Five time-constants are required to approach 100% of the step change value
- Cable: Stainless steel overbraided, Teflon insulated, stranded wires, 24 gauge
The probe is available from Harold G. Schaevitz Industries, a US company specialising in custom and industry-specific exhaust gas temperature gauge thermocouples and temperature, position, tilt and pressure sensors for racing, R&D, test laboratories, industrial, original-equipment manufacturers and special processes in manufacturing.
