JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Australian lithium developer Pilbara Minerals on Monday reported a 60% increase in the mineral resource at its flagship Pilgangoora lithium/tantalum project, in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
The updated resource comprised 128.6-million tonnes grading 1.22% lithium oxide (spodumene) and 138 parts per million tantalum, containing 1.57-million tonnes of lithium oxide and 39-million tonnes of tantalum.
The latest resource model would be used as the basis for the definitive feasibility study, which was focusing on a standalone operation at Pilgangoora with a throughput rate of two-million tonnes a year.
