PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Newcrest Mining has restarted mining at the Toguraci mine, at its Gosowong operations, in Indonesia.
Mining at Gosowong was suspended in early February following a geotechnical event that trapped a miner for eight days.
Newcrest said on Tuesday that during the period of suspension, technical studies and rehabilitation work was undertaken at the Toguraci and Kencana mines, while some low-grade stockpiled materials were processed.
The rate of mining at Toguraci would now gradually increase, with full production not expected for at least two months. However, mining at the Kencana mine remained suspended as Newcrest advanced technical studies at the project area.
