A new high-volume production inkjet web press for a range of applications, including commercial, direct mail, publishing and transactional, is designed to provide print service providers (PSPs) the versatility to meet the requirements of uncoated and coated papers.
The HP PageWide T485 HD with HP Brilliant ink is designed to provide offset-class quality while printing at advanced speeds.
Key benefits of the press include:
- HP Brilliant ink enables a wider, more vivid colour range and allows users to print directly to coated and uncoated offset media.
- The capacity to print up to 800 fpm/244mpm mono and colour in Performance mode, offering reliable printing at speeds over 400 000 pages/hour in full colour.
- The 42-inch-width press offers flexibility to produce a broader range of applications on various media types and formats, aimed at allowing customers to expand into new applications, such as flyers, brochures, self-mailers, posters, banners, journals, magazines, catalogues and newspapers.
The press is available as an upgrade to existing PageWide T400 series presses and for new orders, with expected product availability in the first half of 2023.
HP unveiled several additional developments in its product portfolio, including upgrades to its PageWide web press T250 HD (part of the PageWide portfolio) to include enhanced productivity with a new 800 fpm/244 mpm mono mode, enabling a 60% productivity improvement for monochrome applications, including a 90-million-page duty cycle/month, and the production of 1 250x300 page, 6x9 book blocks/hour.
HP also revealed that one of the first global installations of its PageWide Advantage 2200 took place in France at customer communication management company DataOne, part of Groupe Diffusion Plus.
The press features full colour high definition (HD) printing speed of 150 m/min and is designed to meet the needs of print service providers of all sizes. It is said to offer advanced productivity and quality, and media versatility for publishing, direct mail and commercial print businesses.
HP says that it has expanded and increased the flexibility of its SmartStream Elite print server range, with a solution built specifically to support the needs of printers producing direct mail and transactional applications. The HP SmartStream Elite-DT print server is a digital front-end aimed at driving HP’s portfolio of PageWide presses with newly expanded capabilities streaming intelligent printer data stream, or IPDS, content to the press and expanding support for advanced function presentation, or AFP, portable document format, or PDF, and PostScript file types. Fast native raster imaging processor, or RIPs, with object reuse and on-the-fly page composition and imposition are said to offer printers new workflow alternatives for specialised security applications and privacy/security regulatory compliance.
HP highlighted that its ColorPRO technology offers additional choice to inkjet customers printing high value, variable content on production inkjet presses, and the ability to print higher quality, with lower running costs and exceptional runability. The company announced the expansion of ColorPRO collaborations with various global customers.
