A new flameproof underground loader is now available for order in South Africa. The loader is an enhanced 12 t high-capacity heavy-duty utility vehicle that is said to offer improved performance, reduced emissions and lower total cost of ownership.
Sandvik explains that its LS312 loader builds on the features of its 10 t LS190 and 12 t LS190S models. Powered by the C7.1 mechanical engine, the new generation loader complies with Tier II emission standards, while promising quieter and more efficient operation.
In addition, the company asserts that the new loader offers increased engine performance, with 20% higher torque and 8% more power, running at a lower revolutions per minute, which translates into less engine wear and lower emission levels.
The loader’s drivetrain has been enhanced with a 12 t axle and the structural integrity of the front frame has been strengthened. Hydraulic test points are located in a panel on the side of the machine, aimed at giving easier and safer access for maintenance. The improved cooling system is said to further reduce maintenance time.
The product offers an optional electronic shutdown system for enhanced fault diagnosis and reduced time to repair. It also has an onboard data monitoring capability allowing for transfer of information on a mine’s wireless network and management through the My Sandvik cloud platform.
A proximity-detection interface is provided as standard, in a further effort to improve operational safety. The lower frame design aims to facilitate improved visibility for operators.
The new model is locally manufactured at Sandvik’s facility on the East Rand of Johannesburg, South Africa.
