Bearing and rotating technology and engineering specialist SKF has announced a new high-load, food-grade grease known as LGFQ 2.
The company explains that LGFQ 2 is suitable for heavy applications such as mills and presses in the food industry. The grease uses a polyalphaolefin- based oil, in combination with a calcium sulphonate thickener, registered as NSF H1, as well as being certified as both halal and kosher.
SKF LGFQ 2 has a temperature range of –40 ºC to 140 ºC, which means it can be used during different seasons and in various working conditions. The grease also has good pump ability, which facilitates its use with a centralised lubrication system in order to optimise consumption and minimise risks associated with manual lubrication.
The company adds that LGFQ 2 has good mechanical stability, preventing the grease from leaking out of the application, and provides good corrosion protection and water resistance, helping to extend the life of bearings subjected to such contaminants.
SKF is a supplier of bearings, seals, mechatronics, lubrication systems and services which include technical support, maintenance and reliability services, engineering consulting and training. The company is represented in more than 130 countries, employs 46 635 people and has 17 000 distributor locations globally. Yearly sales in 2015 were R125.5-billion.
