In a strategic move that signifies a pivotal enhancement in the confluence of digital and analogue technologies within the hydraulics and pneumatics sectors in South Africa, flow measurement technology provider Senseca is aiming to revolutionise application versatility, from small-scale machines to expansive automation systems, using the latest iteration of its Omniplus transmitter series.
Now enhanced with IO-link interface, the Omniplus IO-link transmitters are specifically tailored for precision in oil flow measurements and have been upgraded with an advanced electronic head to handle up to 500 bar of pressure, says Senseca South Africa MD Jan Grobler.
The durability of the Omniplus transmitters is a cornerstone of their design, he adds, highlighting that the transmitter is encased in stainless steel and equipped with a scratch- resistant mineral glass front panel, meaning that these devices are built to withstand challenging industrial environments.
“They are not only robust and waterproof but also maintain full compatibility with traditional analogue systems while facilitating seamless access to Industry 4.0 technologies,” Grobler says.
The transmitters feature a sophisticated 1.2-inch, liquid crystal display screen that enables the viewing of high-resolution graphics, white backlighting for clear visibility, and red alarm messages for critical alerts. This display enhances user interaction, ensuring that essential information is readily accessible.
This capacity for remote interaction and monitoring provides indispensable insights into statuses, error messages concerning potential critical events, and a wealth of device-specific information such as identification and operational parameters.
Additionally, the 5-pole M12x1 connector facilitates the simultaneous output of signals, linking the analogue past with a digital future through dual outputs for 4 mA to 20 mA or 10 V signals, configurable directly on the device.
“The Omniplus-RRI/RRH models incorporate the proven paddle-wheel principle, extending its application across several models to accommodate a diverse range of media, including our Omniplus-VHZ for digital measurement of oil flow rates in hydraulic systems and the Omniplus-VHSX for viscous media,” Grobler adds.
Further, he says the introduction of IO-Link technology into the Omniplus series transforms the transmitters into a hub for bidirectional communication, facilitating not just remote diagnostics and maintenance, but predictive maintenance as well.
Reflecting on the overall impact of the new series, Grobler states that Senseca has “pulled out all the stops with the enhancement of the Omniplus range”, adding that it “embodies a multi-talented engineering feat that guarantees perfect flow measurement across all industries”.
The unveiling of the Omniplus range is aligned with Senseca’s forward-looking strategy, which includes a commitment to ongoing innovation and a roadmap that stretches to 2030, focusing on the evolving landscapes of Industry 4.0.
