JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Mineral sands miner MZI Resources reported on Thursday that it had sent off a record leucoxene shipment of 15 250 t from its Keysbrook project, in Western Australia, with the cargo valued at about $9.8-million.
The bulk shipment from the Port of Bunburry comprised the maiden cargo of high-grade L88, totalling about 8 250 t, and a second cargo of L70, totalling about 7 000 t.
Sales of all products since shipments started in December 2015 now totalled about 31 400 t, generating sales revenue of $18.2-million.
“The commencement of sales of our premium L88 product is a very important milestone for Keysbrook in this early stage of its operational life. Our continued progress is particularly encouraging coming amid signs of improving global demand for titanium dioxide feedstocks from both traditional end-users and new emerging sectors that bode well for prices in the medium and long term,” said MZI MD Trevor Matthews.
