Triple R – a cellulose-based cartridge/filter for removing all oil impurities – manufactured in Triple R’s fully automated factory in Ohira, Japan, guarantees 100% filtration.
The Triple R filter optimises production expenditures, provides cost savings, improves machine reliability, increases production capacity, and contributes to environmental conservation, says CT Hydraulics sales manager Dustin Triegaardt.
All hydraulic and lubricating systems in production conditions are continuously subjected to dirt build-up. Dirt is the cause of 80% of all oil-related malfunctioning and breakdowns. To keep production machines running smoothly, accurate cleansing needs to take place, notes Triegaardt.
Thus, the Triple R micro-filtration concept is the result of years of research, and improvement to an already unique invention in filtration technique, states Treigaardt.
“There are three parameters that are paramount to a proven design.”
He says the axial flow that creates a 114-mm-thick filter build-up, offers the “best” filtration in the industry. The combination of special patented cellulose material, along with the thickness of the element, allows the systematic absorption of water and sludge.
Additionally, the carefully placed compressed ring at the lower part of the filter element creates a precise passageway for uniform control over fine filtration.
The filter’s aim is to achieve the most efficient and effective filtration possible at a low cost; therefore, the elements such as TR20430, TR20450, cover a variety of fluids for cleansing such as hydraulic oil, engine oil, gear oil and diesel.
“The Triple R filter systems can remove all pollutants such as solid particles, varnish and water with one filter element, and is not only designed for oil impurities,” he enthuses.
“Also, Triple R filters contain a water-eater element specifically for water removal, and a water glycol element specifically for water glycol,” says Triegaardt.
The filter can be used in the automotive, steel and iron, paper, construction, railway, transport, aviation, energy, wind energy, marine and petrochemical industries, as well as all hydraulic systems.
The filters can be added to existing systems, as it “bleeds off” 3% to 5% of flow through micro depth filter media, and the range of filter elements range from 2 µm absolute to 5 µm absolute – consequently resulting in oil that is up to five times cleaner than new oil.
Further, changes in temperature at storage facilities or manufacturing plants with new oil either in bulk storage or drums are subject to drawing in air contamination with moisture and dirt, says Triegaardt.
He adds that Triple R filters are manufactured with housings produced from diecast aluminium, carbon steel or stainless steel, which has been specifically designed for systems of up to 450 bar pressure.
The filters can be fitted with a particle counter, which offers real-time contamination counts and the cleanliness levels of oils.
Triple R filter housings range from 1 ℓ/min, with built-in flow control, to 150 ℓ/min. The housings can be used individually for certain flow requirements or combined to increase capacity.
In addition, Triple R offers a wide range of filter elements to fit every application. Triple R filter
elements are multipass-tested according to ISO 4572 and are guaranteed for consistency across production for micron ratings (μ rating) and filtration efficiency (ß ratio).
Triple R filter elements are designed in four different diameter models (30, 50, 100 and 300), two different height sizes (80 and 114), in various filter materials (cellulose, polyester, or PP), and in two different construction setups (single stage – “M-E-X-WG series”, or double stage – “D-series”).
“A full range of Triple R filter elements and housings is available at CT Fluid Power Training and Consultants in Driehoek, Germiston.”
Triegaardt says if an item is not in stock, delivery takes about six to eight weeks on bulk shipments for sea freight or, in urgent cases, units of Triple R filters can be flown in from its support offices in Belgium within one to two weeks.
CT Hydraulics is the Triple R distributor for Southern and sub-Saharan Africa globally, whilst other distributors focus on other major countries, with the head office in Japan.
“With our offices based in South Africa, we support the African market and export to Namibia, Angola, Tanzania, Botswana, Zambia and Mozambique. However, our aim is to nationally distribute the Triple R filter to the entirety of Africa.”
CT Hydraulics is working on several proposals in different industries, although its main target market currently is local plants around South Africa in the hydraulics industry, Triegaardt concludes.
