PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Wet commissioning of the feed classification has started at the Mt Cattlin spodumene project, in Western Australia.
ASX-listed Galaxy Resources said the tantalum beneficiation circuit wet commissioning, planned for the first week of October, started one week ahead of schedule.
Final stages of the piping and electrical installation are continuing along the critical path, while significant progress is also being achieved within the dense media separation area. Punch listing started one week ahead of schedule in the reflux classification area, in preparation for water commissioning, and the final handover of the reflux classification area is scheduled to happen over the next two weeks.
Galaxy noted that final commissioning had been completed on the ore preparation area, with automated sequence runs conducted, while wet commissioning started in the feed classification and tantalum beneficiation areas, pumping water through the circuit from the newly completed water services area through to the completed tailings thickener.
First production at Mt Cattlin is earmarked for November, and first shipments are due to leave the Port of Esperance in December.
