With lighting being a critical factor on any job site as workers need to be able to see properly to carry out their work safely and correctly, heavy-duty, portable electric power tools and accessories manufacturer Milwaukee is investing significantly in the development of its lighting solutions.
Milwaukee’s high-output light-emitting-diode (LED) lighting range offers full-day run-times in portable packages, using advanced technology to deliver consistent beams, optimised colour temperature and true colour representation. These are all integral factors to ensure more productive work areas and job sites in the construction and related trade industries.
Milwaukee product specialist Werner Koch explains that the company supplies high-output TrueView LED lighting. The Milwaukee lighting range includes a stand, personal and area lights.
“The M18 HSAL and M18 SAL 2.2-m-high stand lights, which are sufficiently rugged to be deployed on construction sites, can withstand 70 km/h winds without the danger of toppling over. These stand lights are ideal for major operations such as concrete pours, decking, or rebar work on larger construction sites, ranging in height from 1.5 m to 2.2 m. The 2.2 m height is ideal for overhead lighting solutions that enhance the entire construction process.”
Koch states that the M18 SAL TrueView stand light draws minimal current and can therefore run for up to 8 h/d off a single battery pack while simultaneously providing the user with a high light output of up to 2 000 lumens. It is also extremely durable, shockproof and IP54-rated against dust or water.
Milwaukee offers an M12 AL area light with 1 000 lumens that is equipped with a magnetic base and retractable clamp making it ideal for plumbing and electrical applications. Plumbers who access geysers through a roof can clamp this light onto any bracing or trusses in the area as a convenient lighting solution to enhance safety and productivity. The magnetic base plate means electricians can also mount the light securely onto an electrical board ensuring the best lighting conditions for wiring applications.
“Our lighting is designed specifically to be able to withstand the rigours of daily professional use, while also shining brighter and lasting longer than traditional lighting solutions. The range is durable, built to last and continues to perform in the toughest working conditions, as it can even withstand a drop or fall,” he says.
He adds that Milwaukee’s range of lights offers corded and cordless options guaranteed to provide the best solution for a variety of applications. All the lights are compatible and interchangeable across the two M12 and M18 battery platforms offered by Milwaukee for convenience, ensuring sites remain lit up.
Personal lights include spotlights and inspection lights, with lanyard or clamp options for attachment to metal boxes or roof trusses.
Milwaukee’s global patents include the TrueView white-light system which replicates natural sunlight. This is particularly important for electricians working on distribution boards where traditional halogen lighting can result in colour-blending, making everything appear green or blue.
Koch mentions that it is challenging going up against cheaper imports where there is little focus on product quality and durability. “They just want to supply the cheapest product possible to the detriment of end-users. The use of inferior lighting also results in eye fatigue over time owing to harsh light,” warns Koch.
