A customised lubrication system was recently supplied by Bosch Rexroth Africa to meet the specific requirements of an earth-moving equipment supplier, but the company says the solution can be used across industries and can be modified to required specifications.
Used in workshop service bays, the environment-friendly and dust-proof lubrication dispensing solution consists of six oil systems and one coolant dispensing system fitted into a six-metre-high cube shipping container.
The containerised lubrication system is designed to offer a streamlined, safer and cleaner method to monitor and dispense lubricants, enhancing precision and efficiency in handling lubricants within workshops. The system provides dispensing units equipped with meters to manage the amount of lubricant dispensed, which helps eliminate waste from overfilling and enables faster lubricant replacement during planned maintenance. In addition, the number of empty containers is reduced, as centralised lubrication systems allow lubricants to be stored in bulk containers and dispensed through hose reels directly into the units being serviced.
Bosch Rexroth Africa business development manager Craig Walkden says that the dispensing units assist with the depletion of contaminated oils and help improve housekeeping standards.
The dispensing and refilling of seven 1 000 ℓ Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC) will be undertaken using seven pneumatically driven 3/4-inch double diaphragm pumps, each with its own changeover valves and in-line filter. This is achieved by means of seven, 3/4-inch Cobra NS600 spring retractable hose reels with 15-m hoses fitted with 3/4-inch high-volume non-drip oil dispensing nozzles, which are metered through resettable digital flow meters fitted for easy lubricant dispensing. Walkden points out that the airline is fitted with a drop-out particle filter and an airline filter/regulator/lubricator, which is piped up to the pneumatic pumps.
Walkden notes that Bosch Rexroth Africa is looking to roll out the solution to clients across Africa.
