PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The Las Bambas copper project, in Peru, has shipped its first 10 000 t of copper concentrate, owner MMG reported on Tuesday.
The first shipment of copper concentrate was produced as part of the commissioning activities at Las Bambas and departed the Port of Matarani for China on Friday.
MMG's $7.4-billion Las Bambas project was slated to start commercial production in May or June this year, and would ramp up to 400 000 t of copper in 2017.
