The K5Mzansi Joint Venture (JV) is focused on delivering world-class-quality products, supplied on time at competitive prices, with a view to developing long-term relationships with its clientele.
Servicing the mining, materials handling, power generation, petrochemicals, oil and gas, and heavy industry sectors, the K5Mzansi JV is a partnership between Germiston metal fabricator Mzansi Fabrication & Welding and heavy engineering specialist K5 Heavy Engineering.
“Our focus is spread evenly over the supply of new equipment and the refurbishment of existing equipment to its original specifications. Our services include manufacturing, Non Destructive Testing, sandblasting and painting to specification, assembly, delivery to site and installation as required.”
Operating out of a well-equipped 20 000 m2 facility in Vanderbijlpark, the K5Mzansi JV offers clients the option of on-site refurbishment if deemed more cost effective, as well as the management of the disassembly and/or erection and installation of supplied equipment, taking responsibility for the full project scope where the client requires this service.
The JV’s product and service offering encompasses mining components, military critical items and materials handling equipment, which involves reclaimers, stackers, rail tipplers and dump truck buckets.
Port handling equipment, including ship loaders and straddle carriers, is also incorporated into its portfolio, in addition to power generation, oil and gas and petrochemical equipment, such as gas storage vessels, pressure vessels and heat exchangers. Heavy industry equipment is also manufactured, entailing the supply of kiln shells and rollers, and steel industry critical parts.
A Level 2 broad-based black economic-empowerment company, the K5Mzansi JV was established in June this year following the purchase of critical equipment from DCD Heavy Engineering.
“Most recently, we have been awarded the manufacture of two 10 m diameter × 5 m long SAG mill shells for an African project
currently well underway and are also machining two 180 t components for a local steel company.” The future looks bright indeed for the K5 Mzansi JV.
