SOLARWORLD Africa has recently partnered with China-based tier 1 solar panel manufacturer Risen Energy to import its Hyper-ion hetero-junction cell technology (HJT) solar modules designed to operate at high temperatures and generate 5.61% more electricity every year compared to a standard mono PERC module.
The innovative technology combines heterojunction cells with a high-efficiency passivated emitter rear cell, or PERC, structure resulting in improved efficiency and performance of the solar panel. The Hyper-ion HJT solar panel has an efficiency rating of up to 22.3%, which means it is able to generate more electricity from the same amount of sunlight compared to other solar panels.
In addition, the solar panel is said to have a high tolerance to shading, which means that even in partially shaded areas the solar panel can continue to generate electricity efficiently, which is an important consideration in areas where buildings and other structures may cast shadows on the solar panels.
The product is also said to feature a longer lifespan compared to other solar panels, with a degradation rate of 0.25% a year, which translates to a power retention rate above 90%, by the end of the thirtieth year.
“So while the product warranty for the Hyper-ion HJT solar panel is 12 years, the long-term efficiency and durability of the panel ensures that customers will benefit from solar energy for many years beyond the warranty period,” asserts SOLARWORLD Africa MD Gregor Küpper.
