HAND OVER: The National Transmission Company South Africa (NTCSA), which began trading on July 1, was officially launched on October 7. The entity is currently a subsidiary of Eskom Holdings, but will become a fully independent transmission system operator in the coming years. To symbolise the hand-over of grid responsibilities from Eskom to the NTCSA a statue of a handshake was commissioned and unveiled at a ceremony attended by (from left to right) Electricity and Energy Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, NTCSA chair Priscillah Mabelane, interim NTCSA CEO Segomoco Scheppers and Eskom Group CEO Dan Marokane.
