JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Africa-focused gold producer Goldplat has commissioned the first of the 4 t elution columns acquired from DRDGold, at its Goldplat Recovery operations, near Benoni, in Gauteng.
The Aim-listed company said in a statement on Tuesday that the completion of this project, on schedule, was an important milestone in its turnaround strategy and would enable the company to clear the remainder of the backlog gold inventory, improve its cash position and provide capacity for increased future production.
"The increase in our elution capacity to an average daily throughput rate of 8 t/d day supports our strategy to capture more of the gold recovery value chain in-house and completes another significant capital project.
“I am proud of the team for the good work done and look forward to tracking the success of this increased elution capacity as we look to increase gold production and revenues for the company,” CEO Gerard Kisbey-Green commented.
Goldplat still had to decide on the timing and location of the installation of the remaining two 4 t elution columns, with one likely to be moved to the company's Gold Recovery Ghana operation in 2016.
