PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Iron-ore miner Fortescue Metals has awarded project house Thiess a A$650-million contract extension at the Solomon Hub, in Western Australia.
The contract extension will involve Thiess continuing to deliver mining services at Solomon until 2020, including maintenance of mobile and ancillary plant, autonomy solutions and nonprocess infrastructure management.
Solomon Hub currently produces some 72-million tonnes a year of iron-ore from the Firetail and Kings Valley mines.
