PERTH (miningweekly.com) – First ore has been hauled from the Kalgoorlie North gold project, in Western Australia, to gold miner Norton Gold Field’s Paddington mill.
ASX-listed Excelsior Gold said on Thursday that the delivery of the first ore to the Paddington Mill was an important milestone for the company and represented the start of the ore treatment agreement under which Norton would process between 500 000 t/y and 650 000 t/y of Kalgoorlie North ore, over the next five to ten years.
Mining at the Kalgoorlie North operation started in November this year, following the award of the openpit mining contract.
Under the ore treatment agreement, Excelsior was responsible for all mining operations, while Norton would conduct the ore haulage, sampling and processing.
