State-owned Eskom expects the installation of prepaid electricity meters in Sandton, Midrand, Soweto and Kagiso, to enhance its revenue collection.
The power utility had already seen a R33.63-million improvement in revenue collection in Soweto after it installed and converted 20% of its Soweto-based customers to split prepaid meters.
Eskom had installed more than 40 000 split prepaid meters and planned to convert all customers to split prepaid meters within five years.
