Prof Benita Zulch
Is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Construction Economics in the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology at the University of Pretoria. The department offers programmes in quantity surveying, construction management and real estate, all fully accredited for a five-year period by various national bodies such as SACQSP, SACPCMP and SACPVP and two international bodies, the RICS and CIOB. Zulch has over 30 years of experience in teaching, lecturing, administration and curriculum development. She has authored over 81 papers and supervised over 65 PhD and Masters students.
Her research interests include project management, facilities management and communication skills in the construction industry.
Prof Hanlie Smuts
Is the Head of Department of Informatics and the Chair of the School of Information Technology at the University of Pretoria. She is a renowned expert in business trans- formation, knowledge management and behavioural change management. She has a career in the ICT sector, focusing on improving business performance and optimising operating models. At the University of Pretoria, she teaches and researches IT and its organisational impact, builds strong industry relationships and super- vises postgraduate research. She is a facilitator, learner, coach and mentor, fostering critical and innovative thinkers. She has published several academic papers and book chapters in her research fields.
Prof Natasia Naudé
Is the Head of the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering and Director of the Industrial Minerals and Metals Research Institute. Naudé is a metallurgical engineering expert with a PhD from the University of Stellenbosch. She began her career as an Engineer in Training at Foskor and later led the Minerals Processing Group at Tshwane University of Technology. Her research interests include particle stratification, physical beneficiation processes and advanced computational modelling techniques. She is a registered professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa and a member of the Southern Africa Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
Prof Marlene Holmner
Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Information Science at the University of Pretoria, Holmner has been dedicated to knowledge, innovation and ethical information technology applications since 1997. She mentors the next generation of scholars and practitioners, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses and supervising talented Masters and PhD students. Holmner believes in the transformative power of information, urging educators, researchers and students to embrace challenges and opportunities. To her fellow educators, researchers and students, she offers this inspiration: "Embrace the challenges and opportunities that come your way. Persist with tenacity, ask the right questions and never stop learning. Together, we can shape a future where information serves as a beacon of progress and equity for all."
