JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The Deflector underground mine, in Western Australia, delivered record gold production last month.
The Deflector mine produced 5 895 oz of gold in November, compared with the precious record of 5 050 oz in October, ASX-listed Doray Minerals reported on Monday.
Copper production also exceeded forecasts, which Doray said was boosting the operation’s cash flow. In the current high copper price environment, copper is accounting for about 25% of the revenue at Deflector.
The company reported that the improvements were the result of ongoing initiatives introduced during the year to optimise Deflector.
Doray has delineated additional ore bearing structures in the Western Zone of the mine, which has resulted in a 12% increase in gold and 31% increase in copper.
“There is genuine momentum at Deflector now and we are looking forward to a strong second half of the financial year,” MD Leigh Junk commented in a statement.
