Year of Formation & Background to Founding:
At a very young age, Kevin Donaldson purchased the generator sales division of the old Meissner company in 1993 with the specific agreement that for two years, the only focus will be service, maintenance and repairs to diesel generator systems. During this time, Diesel Electric Services has grown from strength to strength managed by a dynamic entrepreneur, the initial specialisation in service, maintenance and repair and from there taking the knowledge and experience gained to introduce this into the manufacturing of complete diesel generator systems.
We currently occupy in excess of 25 000 m2 of working space. At present we have two panel shops where manufacturing is taking place in excess of 5 000 m2. These panel shops are fully equipped for basic sheet metal work, busbar bending and in-house programming of different control interface solutions offered to customers.

Diesel Electric Services is a turnkey power solution provider and can add value by keeping clients’ electrical power infrastructure under one umbrella. This includes design, manufacture, supply, mechanical and electrical installations, commissioning, service and maintenance, relocation, remote monitoring, training, repairs, modifications and refurbishment.
IEC/SANS 60439 - 61439
IEC / SANS 60439 standards require detailed testing to confirm that one’s calculations are, in fact, correct. This covers busbar supports, busbar spacing, riser supports, temperature rise, ventilation requirements, neutral bars support and earth bar mountings, being the most important.
IEC / SANS 61439 allows verification without actual destructive testing being used.
By using successful FTT / PTT results from IEC / SANS 60439 in IEC / SANS 61439 we have been able to complete a sequence of tests, using the destructive tests covered by IEC / SANS 60439 as the verification process covered by IEC / SANS 61439.

We currently employ 550 full-time staff, separated into many teams, and managed by competent supervisors and managers. This ensures a first-class, quick and reliable response to any possible client request or need.
Our service department boasts a staff compliment of 71 field technicians and, to assist them with the administrative side, 22 employees fully conversant in Pastel and issuing of quotations.

We are proud to confirm that Diesel Electric Services has been accredited with both an 8EB, 8EP (Electrical) and 7ME (Mechanical) CIDB rating, proving our excellent abilities to perform in our industry. We are currently in the process of applying for an 8ME rating testimony to our mechanical capabilities and associated achievements.
