Following is failed attempt to take over Anglo American in a deal primarily driven by copper, BHP has announced a joint venture with Lundin Mining to buy copper miner Filo. Besides each taking a 50% stake in the Filo del Sol copper project, in Chile, BHP will also acquire half of Lundin’s Josemaria project, just over the border in Argentina.
