South African manufacturer of high-quality conveyor systems for the mining and bulk handling industries Megaroller is expanding its footprint into North America, launching its Canadian distributorship at this year’s MINExpo International at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, in Nevada, in the US, which will be held from September 26 to 28.
Megaroller boasts a patented bearing housing and sophisticated sealing arrangement for its rollers, making it the preferred choice for extreme duty in abrasive and corrosive application environments.
Megaroller business development manager Adrian Evans notes that, despite the lacklustre global economic environment, the company continues on a strong path of growth internationally.
He tells Mining Weekly that the company’s export sales have increased exponentially in the past 12 months, highlighting that Megaroller’s exports to Australia, for instance, have grown by almost 300% and continue to grow at a fast and steady pace.
“We believe that the appointment of a specialised distributor in Canada will further boost our international market share,” Evans adds.
Megaroller, which was the first South African manufacturer to produce high-density polyethylene conveyor rollers in the early 1980s, has an established presence in Canada, following the appointment earlier this year of an exclusive manufacturing partner – ABS Group – in the country.
ABS Group has an established and growing customer base to which Megaroller’s roller solutions will add value. Appointing a dedicated distributor was prompted by the ever-increasing demand for Megaroller solutions in Canada.
The company says Canada has a large and thriving mining industry that is one of the biggest users of conveyor products. “It is important for us, in terms of ensuring continued and sustained growth in the Canadian mining industry, to have qualified manufacturing, sales and support structures in place to meet customer requirements,” says Megaroller.
“ABS is a great fit and this partnership bodes well for the future of Megaroller products in Canada,” says Evans.
He indicates that, in terms of the partnership, Megaroller will from November produce its patented roller designs according to Conveyer Equipment Manufacturers Association of the Americas (Cema) specifications in addition to custom-requested sizes.
With a history of innovation and development spanning more than 30 years, Megaroller says it is a trusted provider of innovative, long-lasting and environmentally sound conveyor systems worldwide.
The company is headquartered in Brits, South Africa, where its main manufacturing plant is located. Megaroller also has a presence in Australia and Chile, where the company has assembly plants. Its products are employed by large global companies operating in the mining, minerals processing, petrochemicals and power generation industries in the US, Australia, Chile, Canada, China, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia and Botswana.
“The long life span and proven durability and efficiency of our solutions, combined with our reputation as a trusted roller manufacturer globally, ensure that total cost of ownership and value to the end-user are maximised,” says Evans.
Megaroller aims to produce supplies that will be longer lasting, belt friendly and user friendly. The company manufactures to meet or exceed the specifications upheld by the South African National Standards, Cema, the German Institute for Standardisation and any other custom specifications customers might require.
“We are able to meet any customer requirements for small or large projects,” he highlights.
Megaroller is continually developing new products and improving its existing products, emphasises Evans. “We aim to become a leading supplier of all bulk handling supplies for belt conveyors, excluding the belt.”
Megaroller will exhibit in South Hall at MINExpo, where it aims to create awareness of its brand and products available for the North American and South American mining markets.
“Exports have become an important part of our business model and attending expos is the best way for us to demonstrate and show customers the quality and benefits of our products,” asserts Evans.
