Autodesk’s latest version of AutoCAD, the Plant 3D 2022 Toolset, has been accredited to South African National Standards (SANS) and is available on the applications (app) library.
AutoCAD is computer-aided design (CAD) software used by architects, engineers and construction professionals to create precise 2D and 3D drawings. The software allows users to automate tasks such as comparing drawings, counting, adding blocks and creating schedules. It can also be customised with add-on apps and application programming interfaces (APIs).
Autodesk commissioned a study that compared basic AutoCAD to its Plant 3D toolset when performing six tasks commonly used by process plant designers. Results showed that the Plant 3D toolset provided up to 74% overall productivity gain compared to basic AutoCAD.
The upgrade is designed to facilitate more efficient creation and editing processes of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, or P&IDs, and 3D models, as well as faster extraction of piping orthographics and isometrics. It also incorporates highly requested new features, including synchronising project settings and isometric dimension customisation.
The Plant 3D SANS library standard accreditation includes pipes, flanges, straight nozzle, reducers, elbows, fasteners and more. As an Autodesk value-added distributor in South Africa, WorldsView supplies this AutoCAD version as well as other Autodesk products.
