JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed Bushveld Minerals’ subsidiary Greenhills Resources has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South African consulting company VBKom for the development of the Mokopane tin project, in Limpopo.
The MoU provides for VBKom to conduct due diligence on the project for a period to January 31.
The joint development effort is expected to build on a 2014 scoping study based on two deposits; Groenfontein and Zaaiplaaats.
The study envisages an initial 691 000 t/y run-of-mine operation to produce 700 t/y of 99.5% purity metal.
"We have articulated a strategy for Greenhills to consolidate a critical mass of mineable, low-cost tin resources with a near-term production profile in order to build Greenhills' capacity as a standalone tin company,” says Bushveld Minerals CEO Fortune Mojapelo.
