Giant US aerospace and defence group Boeing reported on Tuesday the numbers of aircraft and spacecraft that it delivered to customers during both the second quarter and the first half of this year. The report covered both commercial and military aircraft, as well as military helicopters and civilian satellites.
The total number of commercial airliners delivered by the company during the second quarter was 136. This comprised 103 737 MAX single-aisle airliners, with the remaining 33 being widebody types, subdivided into eight 767s (now produced only as freighters), five 777s and 20 787s. The 787 is Boeing’s new-generation airliner type, being predominantly constructed from composite materials.
Over the whole of the first half of this year, the group delivered a total of 266 airliners. These comprised 216 737 MAXs, nine 767s, nine 777s, 31 787s and one 747 – the last example of the legendary Jumbo jet, the original widebody design, to roll off the production line. The 777 is now Boeing’s largest airliner type.
Regarding military fixed wing aircraft, deliveries in the first quarter comprised four F-15 Eagle-family fighters, six F/A-18 Super Hornet-family fighters, and two P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft. For the year’s first half, deliveries were composed of six F-15 models, 13 F/A-18 variants, five P-8s and one KC-46 air-to-air refuelling tanker.
The group’s military helicopter deliveries in the second quarter came to five new and 16 remanufactured AH-64 Apache attack helicopters, and two new and three “renewed” (Boeing’s term) CH-47 Chinook heavy-lift helicopters. For the first half, the totals were 12 new and 29 remanufactured AH-64s and seven new and four renewed CH-47s.
Boeing delivered zero commercial and civil satellites during the second quarter, but did deliver three during the first half of this year.
The company also stated that it will release its second quarter financial results on July 26.
