AECOM Africa took home the ‘Most Attractive Key Occupation for Engineering Professionals: Building Architects’ at the Universum Awards held in Sandton, Johannesburg on 11 May 2017.
The award was received by Senika Devesheel, AECOM’s HR Director for Africa, who says the latest accolade signifies yet again that AECOM is more than a mutli-disciplinary engineering firm, “but a company that sells expertise, with our people naturally at the top of our agenda. Such an achievement is not possible without having the best people working within our African hub.”
While AECOM provides a blend of global reach, local knowledge, innovation, and technical excellence, its architecture expertise is unparalleled.
“If you look at the number of architects we have, we could rank as one of the world’s largest architecture firms,” AECOM Africa CEO Carlos Poñe comments. Universum Global, a global leader in employer branding, announced the results of its largest-ever survey into employer attractiveness among tertiary institution students and young professionals at the 2017 Universum Awards.
This was Universum’s largest research undertaking in South Africa to date, with 46 981 student respondents and 22 321 professional respondents participating in an exhaustive survey based on questions relating to future employment and career goals, attributes that make an employer attractive, and issues such as work-life balance.
The ‘Most Attractive Employers: Key Occupation’ awards are for the most attractive employers in different occupation groups within each area of study. In this category, the term ‘occupation groups’ refer to specific areas of expertise within each area of study.
Other winners and runners-up, in different categories, at the 2017 Universum Awards included Google, Microsoft South Africa, PwC, the South African Reserve Bank, CSIR, Investec, Eskom, Unilever and the Coca-Cola Company.
