JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Technology group Wärtsilä is set to supply a power plant extension to AngloGold Ashanti's multiple openpit oxide gold mine in Siguiri, Guinea.
The turnkey project will see the connection of three 20-cylinder Wärtsilä 32TS engines running on heavy fuel oil to the existing power plant at site.
“The extension is expected to be operational during the second half of 2018 and the total power output at site will be 30.4 MW. The order is booked for the second quarter of 2017,” said Wärtsilä Energy Solutions West Africa regional director Arnaud Gouet.
Wärtsilä has over 6 800 MW of installed capacity on the African continent and over 63 GW worldwide in 176 countries.
